Conservation is defined as the planning and management of natural and man made resources so as to secure their wise use and continuity of supply. In the other words conservation is nothing but careful and rational use of resources. Different resources can be conserved by the different methods.
Forest Conservation
Forests can be conserved by protecting it from fire and diseased and indiscriminate cutting of trees. Some times, wildfires have caused large scale damage to private and or public property. It destroying many homes and causing deaths, particularly when they have reached urban areas. Wildfires are extremely dangerous, but some are purposely caused.
Wild Life Conservation
Wild life can be conserved by providing them with natural environment and indiscriminate hunting and putting ban on illegal trade on wildlife products. “Every 20 minutes, the world adds another 3,500 human lives but loses one or more entire species of animal or plant life – at least 27,000 species per year.” (Source: PBS). “At the present rates of extinction, as many as 20% of the world's 7-15 million species could be gone in the next 30 years. This rate of extinction has been unprecedented since the disappearance of dinosaurs 65 million years ago.” (Source: WWF).
Water Conservation
Water can be conserved by restricting water supply in the urban areas, increasing water charges and preventing water pollution. Most people know that water is a scarce and limited resource. Of all the water in the world, about 97% is seawater, 2% is polar ice and only a very small 1% is fresh water. The amount of water in the world remains the same - it never changes - so conservation of the scarce water supply we have is critical to the sustainability of our state.
Marine Conservation
Marine resources can be conserved by avoiding over fishing and water pollution. The journal Science published a four-year study in November 2006, which predicted that, at prevailing trends, the world would run out of wild-caught seafood in 2048.
