The Greenhouse Effect

Heat from our sun passes through the atmosphere, causing it to warm up. Most of it warms the earth's surface. While the earth is warming up, it sends out this heat in the form of radiation. The atmosphere traps part of ths heat, and the rest escapes into space. This effect that takes place on earth is called the Greenhouse Effect. The greenhouse effect is similar to the greenhouse becuse both of them trap heat. The greenhouse effect makes the atmosphere trap radiation, making the earth warmer. The greenhouse stops warm air rising and escaping from it. The greenhouse gases, water vapor, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, and some other factors make the atmosphere trap more radiation than normal, and it makes the earth warmer than it really should. Over the past fifty years, the production of carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane increased very sharply. Also, a new type of chemical, chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) was introduced as a refigerant, but it is a very strong greenhouse gas because it can trap a lot of radiation (one molecule of CF

Reducing the use of fossil fuel would reduce carbon dioxide. The extra methane came from coal mining. This could cripple North America's corn belt, which produces a lot of the world's grain. He thinks too much on short term improvements than long term improvements, which is more beneficial and lasts longer. Experts predict or by the year 2100 (or as early as 2030) the sea levels will rise by one meter. They are not considering the future. The greenhouse effect causes huge trouble by raising the temperatre of earth. More environmentalists and climatogists believe that all this is contributing to global warming, which will contribute to the next ice age. Rising sea leavels from the earth's polar ice caps could heavily flood many countries. The government has two basic approaches to the problems of global warming caused by the Greenhouse Effect. The island states would suffer the most from the rise in seal levels. The Maldives in the Indian Ocean will almost completely disappear and Britain would lse most of East Anglia. Limitation is reducing the amount of greenhouse gases released in the atmosphere.
